MARCH MEDICAID 5% RATE ENHANCEMENT

Near the end of March, NC Medicaid announced a 5% rate enhancement to the Medicaid rate due to the COVID crisis. The rate enhancement was made retroactive to March 10, 2020.  Claims that had already been processed and paid at the un-enhanced rates were re-processed by NCTracks at the proper enhanced rates.

During the rate re-processing, many providers have noticed that they had received the enhanced rate for the entire month of March 2020.  This was done in order to avoid any unnecessary delay of payment since the claims had not been split between March 1-9 and March 10 and later dates of service.

The current plan is for the claims for dates of service March 1-9 to be re-processed by NCTracks, at the non-enhanced rates, at some point in the future. If providers want to make corrections themselves, they can split the claims based on the March 1-9 date and the March 10 or later date and resubmit the initial claim as separate claims.
