Supporters of North Carolina’s Skilled Nursing Facilities Political Action Committee (Supporters PAC)

About
The Supporters PAC is a political committee whose mission is to support NCHCFA members by making independent expenditures supporting candidates for statewide elected office and seats in the General Assembly who promote the value and needs of the post-acute and long term care community in North Carolina.

Why donate?
Statewide elected officials and legislators have a tremendous impact on the daily operations of a skilled nursing facility. They make critical decisions about the challenges we face every day, such as Medicaid funding, certificate of need, health care workforce issues, and medical malpractice reforms. In today’s political climate, it is not enough to have just “good ideas.” The Supporters PAC must help support those individuals who share our views.

Make your corporate or personal contribution today! Let’s send a powerful message of unity on behalf of our state’s skilled nursing community. Any amount your company can afford is greatly appreciated. Please take a moment to consider contributing to the Supporters PAC. Checks should be made payable to Supporters of North Carolina’s Skilled Nursing Facilities, and checks can be mailed to:  Supporters PAC, 6325 Falls of Neuse Rd., Suite 35-259, Raleigh, NC 27615.

Supporters PAC funds are used to make independent expenditures supporting candidates in North Carolina state political races.

Who decides which candidates receive the Supporters PAC’s support?
All expenditures are approved by the Supporters PAC’s Treasurer and Directors.

How does the Supporters PAC select candidates to support?
In determining which candidates to support, we consider a number of factors, including the following:

  • A candidate’s proven record of support for issues that promote our priorities.
  • An incumbent candidate’s position in the General Assembly as a Chair or member of a critical committee, or influence with the elected leadership of the House or Senate.
  • A candidate’s willingness to fight on our behalf even when confronted with heavy opposition.

No. Contributions made to a political action committee are not tax deductible.

Can I send a corporate check to the Supporters PAC?
Yes. A North Carolina state independent expenditure PAC, like the Supporters PAC, may receive unlimited amounts of contributions from individuals, corporations, business entities, labor unions, professional associations, or insurance companies.

How much money can I contribute to the Supporters PAC?
There is no limit on contributions. An independent expenditure PAC may receive unlimited contributions from individuals, corporations, business entities, labor unions, professional associations, or insurance companies.

Please note: contributors other than individuals and political committees who give more than $100 to an independent expenditure PAC must file disclosure reports themselves with the NC State Board of Elections within 30 days of making the donation or, if earlier, 10 days before an election. An individual or political committee that makes such a donation to the PAC need not file these disclosure reports.

How much can the Supporters PAC give to a candidate?
An independent expenditure PAC cannot contribute directly to a candidate, a candidate’s committee, a political party, or a non-independent expenditure PAC. An independent expenditure PAC may, however, make an unlimited amount of “independent expenditures” on behalf of a political candidate. An “independent expenditure” is an expenditure for communications, such as mailers, that expressly advocate for the election of a candidate that is not made in consultation or cooperation with, or at the request or suggestion of, a candidate, a candidate’s committee, party committee, or their agents.
