AFFILIATED PROVIDERS IMPACTED BY COVID-19 ACCELERATED/ADVANCE PAYMENT REFUND OFFSETS

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has the authority to adjust payments (payment offsets) to affiliated providers and suppliers on the basis of their tax ID number regardless of their billing number, NPI number, internal organizational structure or physical location.

An affiliated provider is a provider that shares the same Tax Identification Number (TIN) and/or is part of a provider, supplier or hospital group (i.e., sub-units).

Repayment of COVID accelerated/advance payments through offset will begin soon (one year from the date a CAAP was issued). If you are an affiliated provider you may be affected by these offsets.

Each provider that requested and received a CAAP, identified a point of contact for their CAAP request(s). Please do not call the provider contact center to identify your organization’s point of contact as that information will not be able to be released to you. You will need to inquire within your organization to identify that point of contact and discuss how CAAP refund offsets may affect your Medicare remits as an affiliated provider.
