SUMMER SYMPOSIUM SPEAKER OF THE WEEK – TEEPA SNOW

Teepa Snow

The Effects of Social Isolation on Those Living with Dementia will be presented by Teepa Snow, MS, OTR/L, FAOTA. Teepa is one of the world’s leading advocates and educators for anyone living with dementia. This program will focus on dementia and care during the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal of maintaining social distancing boundaries to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus is challenging for all individuals, but is typically even more so for those living with dementia. This webinar will highlight the serious effects that social isolation may have on those living with brain change, including the development of depression and anxiety, and will address how to recognize the signs of symptoms of depression and anxiety in those living with dementia. This session will also help providers recognize and respond more accurately to unwanted effects of social isolation to reduce the chances for escalation and ‘non-helpful’ hospitalizations.

This selected program offers a certificate of completion for one Activity Director and one Social Worker at no additional charge. Please note approval pending: NCHCFA has applied for 2.0 education contact hours for Social Workers and Activity Directors through the NC Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-NC) and the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP).

This program is on-demand and will be available for viewing from July 31, 2020 at 12:00 PM until August 28th, 2020 at 12:00 PM. Register here today!
