SAVE THE DATE FOR THE PDPM ACADEMY IN-PERSON TRAINING!

The new Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) begins October 1, 2019. Developed and presented by the American Health Care Association (AHCA), the PDPM Academy is a 10-month training effort to help centers prepare for this massive change. It offers both the in-person training and continuing updates and support. Provider members of AHCA and NCHCFA who register for the PDPM Academy will have access to a PDPM 101 workshop Webinar, a full day in-person training, monthly workshop Webinars on key topics and emerging PDPM issues, “how to” Webinars on implementing additional tools developed by AHCA.

NCHCFA ANNUAL CONVENTION SPEAKER OF THE WEEK – ROBIN HILLIER – PREPARING FOR PDPM: OPERATIONAL STRATEGIES

Make plans today to attend the NCHCFA Annual Convention and Expo February 24 – 27, 2019. The meeting will be held at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons/Joseph S. Koury Convention Center, Greensboro, NC. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear Robin Hillier’s program Preparing for Patient Driven Payment Model: Operational Strategies on Tuesday, February 26th at 8:00 AM.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will be transitioning to a new payment methodology for Part A beneficiaries in Skilled Nursing Facilities effective October 1, 2019. The Patient Driven Payment Model, or PDPM, moves away from a payment system driven by therapy minutes to a system driven by resident specific diagnoses and conditions and will be a dramatic change for providers. This session will focus on operational strategies providers can implement to help better prepare them for success under the new payment system.

Robin Hillier is a healthcare executive dedicated to post-acute and long term care. She is a Certified Public Accountant, a State Tested Nursing Assistant, a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, and is Resident Assessment Coordinator Certified and a Master Teacher through the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination (AANAC). Throughout her career, she has been involved in all aspects of facility operations, including ownership roles. She is currently the Director of Reimbursement and Quality Metrics for Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin, Ohio, and President of RLH Consulting, which provides operational and reimbursement consulting to providers of skilled nursing, assisted living, and intellectual or developmental disabilities.

NEW MEDICARE PDPM WEBPAGE

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released on new article the introduces SNF providers to the new Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) Webpage. PDPM starts on October 1, 2019.

This new Webpage includes a variety of educational and training resources to assist providers in preparing for PDPM implementation and this article contains a summary of some of these educational and training resources for review. Providers may refer to the PDPM Webpage for more information from its Fact Sheets, Frequently Asked Questions, a PowerPoint training presentation, and other PDPM Resources.
