NCHCFA HURRICANE MICHAEL PREPARATIONS – MEMBER BED CENSUS REQUEST INCLUDED

This morning, a state of emergency was declared for North Carolina ahead of Hurricane Michael by Gov. Roy Cooper. As the storm makes landfall and moves inland, we would like to support your efforts with the following information:

Local Emergency Management Officials: All requests for additional resources, outside of your normal contracts, are supposed to go through your county emergency management office. A list of county emergency management agencies can be found here.

If your county has not activated its operations center (or you are not having your needs met at the county level) and you need assistance, please contact the state Emergency Operations Center (EOC)’s Health & Medical Desk at (919) 825-2427. Effective 1:00 PM 10/10/2018 it will be staffed 24/7 until NCEM demobilizes the State EOC.

Emergency Management Escalation: If there are any issues that need further escalation after contacting your local emergency management officials and the state Emergency Operations Center (EOC)’s Health & Medical Desk, please contact the Association office at (919) 782-3827. We will work to further escalate issues as we are able.

Resources: The NC Division of Emergency Management has an app for your mobile device. It is called ReadyNC. It has information on local weather, road conditions, reporting power outages, and other information. To download click here.

The NC Division of Emergency Management website is also available here. It contains information about evacuations, shelters, emergency declarations, curfews, flood risk, storm stats, water systems, power outages, and more.

Pre-Hurricane Current Bed Census Request: In preparation of the arrival of Hurricane Michael, we are gathering some basic census information in case one or more facilities need to relocate residents. Please click here to provide bed information.

We hope all of your residents, staff, and families remain safe throughout the storm. If NCHCFA can provide any assistance, please contact the Association office at (919) 782-3827.

SITUATIONAL LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP IN ASHEVILLE NOVEMBER 14TH

The Situational Leadership workshop is an interactive and dynamic developmental session where attendees will discuss how best to apply the effective principles and approaches of The Situational Leadership Model popularized by renowned leadership and management experts Ken Blanchard and Paul Hersey.

Our high demand and ever-changing work environment requires that leadership interactions with staff be as effective and efficient as possible. Additionally, the diverse experiences, skills, and needs of our employees must impact, more than ever, how we manage, lead and inspire our workforce. The Situational Leadership Model suggests that there is no “one size fits all” approach to leadership.

The four different styles of situational leadership to be discussed are:

1. Delegating
2. Coaching
3. Directing
4. Supporting

This workshop will be held at the NCHCFA office in Raleigh, NC. It will be facilitated by Mark Gogal, a Human Resources Leader with over 25 years of progressive, global, and diverse human resources experience, practical business partnering expertise, strong organizational and analytical skills, and proven strategic management experience. He has a multi-faceted background in developing and implementing core HR policies/practices to meet the changing business, legal, and labor compliance environment. He has worked in a variety of industries in the public and private sectors including healthcare.
