NC GENERAL ASSEMBLY STILL CONSIDERING CERTIFICATE OF NEED (CON) REFORMS

As the NC General Assembly continues its work into the fall, potential reforms to the state’s CON laws still remain a possibility.

At this point in the session, many of the reforms being discussed are broadly applicable to the CON laws, and focus on project development timelines, continuous use of CONs, and cost thresholds for exemptions to CON review.  Others include exemptions to CON review for certain relocations, home health agencies owned by CCRCs, and certain ambulatory surgery center conversions.

More details about these and other potential CON changes can be seen in the Fourth Edition of House Bill 126.
