Proposed Medicare Part A Rates Effective October 1, 2025
In April, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the proposed rule for the Medicare Part A rates effective October 1, 2025. These rates include a net market basket increase of 2.8%. Providers will see a change in their rates different than the 2.8% due to changes in the wage indices. Some will see rate changes greater than the 2.8%, while others will see lesser increases or possibly a decrease.
NCHCFA has prepared a Medicare Rate Calculator to assist facilities in determining their Medicare rates based on the proposed rule. This Excel file incorporates changes in the wage index, the VBP multiplier and sequestration reduction and will estimate the proposed rates for any HIPPS code entered. A comparison is made using the current rates and the proposed rates. This Excel file is located on the Reimbursement Resources page of the member section of the NCHCFA website.
The final Medicare payment rule is expected to be released in August, after the public comment period has ended. This rate calculator will be updated after the final rule is posted.
