NC Health Talent Alliance Update

The NC Chamber Foundation is making significant strides in its public-private partnership with the NC Center on the Workforce for Health to address the health care workforce shortage. Earlier this month, we completed the collection and analysis of supply and demand data for key healthcare jobs. This data will be published in a statewide report later this summer.
The findings are alarming—our state faces major shortages of RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and CMAs. Despite these substantial talent gaps, there are viable pathways and strategies to halt the decline and improve the situation. Three of the five NC Health Talent Alliance AHEC pilot regions are now moving into the solutions phase, with the remaining two regions nearing this critical stage as well. A state-level coalition of over two dozen health care employer associations is now pooling resources to support regional efforts to compile best practices and develop solutions. Persistent issues shared across regions will become statewide priorities to address.
