NCHCFA is pleased to announce that Hawley Hunt, Administrator, Capital Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, has been selected by the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) as a national, future leader in long term and post-acute care. Ms. Hunt will join AHCA/NCAL’s Future Leaders program, a year-long program that offers training and guidance for industry professionals.

“Now more than ever, we need to build a pipeline of diverse leaders for our profession,” said Mark Parkinson, president and CEO of AHCA/NCAL. “Our profession has been through the most challenging year, and we need dedicated, up-and-coming leaders to continue to innovate and improve long term care. We are excited to work with Hawley and help her develop her career and passion for serving our nation’s seniors.”

“As long term care services continue to evolve, it is critical that future leaders are identified and given the support and training to successfully balance the needs and expectations of the residents and families being served. Hawley is a great choice to represent North Carolina. She is an example for long term care professionals in demonstrating innovative leadership approaches and a commitment to deliver quality care and services to those most vulnerable.” said Adam Sholar, NCHCFA President/CEO.

Ms. Hunt has been the Administrator at Capital Nursing and Rehab, in Raleigh, for five years.  Prior to Capital Nursing, she was the Administrator at Hillside Nursing Center in Wake Forest.  Ms. Hunt graduated from East Carolina with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Services Management and has a dual Master’s Degree, from Pfeiffer University, in Masters of Business Administration and Masters of Healthcare Administration.  Ms. Hunt states she “was called to Long Term Care by her drive to ensure quality care is provided to all residents in a homelike environment, and enjoys getting to know each resident who enters her facility.”

AHCA/NCAL developed the Future Leaders program in 2004. Selected participants demonstrate both leadership potential and represent the interests of state and national long term care providers. The program covers the latest theories and practical applications in quality management, customer satisfaction, and leadership. The year-long program kicks off with a two-day symposium held each year in Washington, D.C. This year’s symposium will take place September 28 – 30, 2021.
