Year Three First Quarter Update

NC CareGivers is proud to partner with North Carolina’s skilled nursing facilities to address the critical shortage of nurse aides in our state. The overall goal of the NC CareGivers Program is to add at least 4,000 new nurse aides to work in skilled nursing facilities by the end of the three-year grant.

As of this week, 248 skilled nursing facilities, 57 community colleges, and 14 proprietary schools have registered to participate in the NC CareGivers Program. Congratulations and thank you for being one of our participating facilities.

As of June 30, we have 2,307 Nurse Aid I students and 177 Nurse Aide I Refresher students that have registered to participate in the program. Currently, 452 Nurse Aide I students are enrolled in a training program and 249 have completed their program. Nine Nurse Aide I Refresher students have enrolled and completed their program. There may be additional enrollees/completers that have not been entered into the Qualtrics system. During this quarter, Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, Richmond Community College, and Effinity Health Care Training, LLC have partnered with our program.

We also have 25 participants that have entered hiring/employment information to the Qualtrics system by skilled nursing facilities. In addition, there are 18 participants that are working at other health care agencies.
