This session will review the methodology for calculating time-weighted case-mix scores for North Carolina Medicaid. This session will include a detailed review of a sample resident roster report generated from the first quarter utilizing the time-weighted methodology. Attendees are encouraged to review their preliminary resident roster reports prior to the session and have their report available during the session. This session will also highlight assessment scheduling strategies to consider as we learn how to navigate the new case-mix methodology.   

Session Objectives:  

  1. Describe how time-weighted case mix differs from point-in-time case mix
  2. Articulate how multiple assessments are weighted to calculate quarterly case mix scores
  3. Explain how to review case mix reports
  4. Explain how case mix scores influence Medicaid rates

  

About the Speaker: Robin L. Hillier, CPA, LNHA, STNA, RAC-MT 

As an accountant and a nursing home owner, Ms. Hillier understands the financial aspect of the business, as well as how to run a facility. Ms. Hillier brings real-world experience and highly regarded expertise to the table, including:
