The final day of NCHCFA Convention & Expo on Wednesday, February 26 is jam-packed with three educational sessions.
AHCA/NCAL’s Hawley Hunt, Senior Director of Regulatory and Quality Services, and Amy Miller, Director of Clinical and Regulatory Services, kicks off the morning with Navigating Regulatory Changes: Recent Developments, Resource to Support, and Advocacy for Relief. During this informative session on the latest regulatory developments impacting facilities, Hawley and Amy will help you understand key updates to regulatory requirements for facilities. You will learn about AHCA’s efforts to address regulatory burdens and pursue relief measures with the Trump Administration, including potential policy shifts. They will discuss how providers can support advocacy efforts to shape a more balanced regulatory framework that promotes both quality care and operational sustainability and review regulatory resources available to assist members in survey and regulatory preparation.
Next up, Nisha Hammel, Vice President of Reimbursement and Population Health, AHCA/NCAL, will present Partnering for Success: Exploring the LTC-Focused ACO Advantage. This session will explore the evolving landscape of LTC-focused Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) including the strategic, financial, and operational considerations. These LTC-focused ACOs are different than community based ACOs offering LTC providers new opportunities for growth, shared savings, and improved resident outcomes.
Closing out Convention is Robin Hillier, Owner and Consultant, RLH Consulting, with MDS and Case Mix Update: Maximize Today While Preparing for the Future. This session will explore the impact of not being able to use therapy days and minutes administered to Medicaid residents to maximize case mix as well as new opportunities for capturing acuity using the nursing component of PDPM. Any current updates on North Carolina’s transition plan will be incorporated into the presentation. This session will help you understand the implications and develop a strategy to help your organization be prepared for the changes that will be coming.
