“A few days ago, we began sewing long sleeve cloth gowns for our team. We decided to invite interested residents to help us. One resident in our memory care neighborhood joined the group. This resident has advanced dementia and we were unsure if she would be able to participate. However, as soon as she sat down at the old-fashioned Singer sewing machine, she began sewing like a professional. It was truly amazing to see! She completed one gown before lunch.  Her family was overwhelmed with joy when they saw the pictures of her – bringing back memories of her sewing when they were young. This was truly one of the best things I’ve witnessed in my years of service and certainly the best thing I’ve been a part of during this pandemic. Thank you for the sacrifices you make every day, and especially during this pandemic. We know this has been a challenging time for everyone: staff, residents and their loved ones. Our staff have seen the countless positive stories and creative special moments on social media and other outlets from our members that have been remarkably uplifting! We would like to capture these encouraging moments so that our entire membership can enjoy them during this difficult time.
