A NC University is Seeking Nursing Homes to Implement Bingocize®

A North Carolina University-based team is looking for nursing homes interested in providing Bingocize®— a unique activity program—to residents.

Bingocize® is an evidence-based program that combines exercise, health education, and Bingo that is beneficial for all ranges of physical and mental abilities. Research has shown that Bingocize® participation increases social engagement, improves functional/gait performance, and improves aspects of executive function (Crandall et al., 2015; Crandall & Shake, 2016; Falls et al., 2018; Shake & Crandall, 2018; Stevens et al., 2018). Residents play Bingocize® twice per week for about an hour. Led by trained nursing home staff, residents perform gentle strength, range of motion, and balance exercises interspersed with bingo, which is continued until a participant wins and awarded a small prize. Bingocize® is NOT intended to replace an existing loved bingo activity at a participating facility.

Some benefits for joining this partnership and implementing Bingocize® at your facility include:

  • Bingocize® materials, curriculum reinforcements, and t-shirts.
  • New evidence-based opportunity to increase social engagement, functional/gait performance, and executive function.
  • A unique way to bridge interdisciplinary teams – Your nursing home can use activities, restorative care, and physical therapy in conjunction with Bingocize®.
