The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will host a Special Open Door Forum (SODF) on Understanding the IMPACT Act-Measure Alignment and IMPACT Outcomes on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 from 2:00 to 3:00 PM ET. The purpose of this SODF call is to provide information and solicit feedback pertaining to the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation Act of 2014 (commonly referred to as the IMPACT Act). The IMPACT Act mandates the standardization of patient assessment data across post-acute care settings including Skilled Nursing Facilities, Home Health Agencies, Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities, and Long Term Care Hospitals in order to improve quality of care and quality of life. This Special Open Door Forum will offer discussion on the history of the IMPACT Act, including discussion of what is the IMPACT Act, how CMS is standardizing quality measures and data items, and what is the Skilled Nursing Facility Quality Reporting Program (commonly referred to as the SNF QRP). This SODF will serve as a platform to update consumers, stakeholders, researchers, and advocates alike on the work around the IMPACT Act. You may submit questions to PACQualityInitiative@cms.hhs.gov. You may follow along during the call from the PowerPoint slides that were posted to https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Quality-Initiatives-Patient-Assessment-Instruments/Post-Acute-Care-Quality-Initiatives/IMPACT-Act-of-2014/IMPACT-Act-Downloads-and-Videos.html. | REGISTER FOR ALLIANT NATIONAL NURSING HOME QUALITY CARE COLLABORATIVE (NNHQCC) |
Alliant Quality wants to encourage SNFs to keep signing up for the National Collaborative – or SPACE. Alliant recommends having as much time as possible to get started on QAPI improvement work and improving facility quality measures in a systems approach to improve their five star and composite scores. Alliant Quality is the Medicare Quality Innovation Network (QIN)-Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for North Carolina. Under contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Alliant Quality invites your nursing home to participate in a collaborative designed to ensure that every nursing home resident receives the highest quality of care. The Collaborative offers an exciting opportunity to learn from high performing nursing homes regarding their processes as they pertain to consistent/permanent staff assignment, teamwork and communications, leadership, regulatory compliance, clinical models, and quality of life indicators. The Collaborative aligns national nursing home quality initiatives and partnerships such as the Advancing Excellence in America’s Nursing Homes Campaign, The Partnership to Improve Dementia Care, and Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI). Targeted focus areas will include increasing mobility, decreasing unnecessary use of antipsychotics in residents with dementia, decreasing potentially avoidable hospitalizations and decreasing healthcare acquired infections and conditions. When ready to register, click here for the Participation Agreement and fax or e-mail it back to Lisa Klemis. For more details, e-mail Jennifer Brock at Jennifer.Brock@area-F.hcqis.org or call (678) 527-3417. |
| AHCA GERO NURSE PREP PROGRAM |
When you have to replace an RN, the average cost is one hundred thousand dollars. By the time you find the right candidate, hire, train, and help them become productive, it could cost 150% of their base salary. It’s a lot less expensive to keep the employees you have, especially in a competitive market! • Gero Nurse Prep prepares RNs for successful attainment of board certification as Gerontological Nurses, the gold standard of excellence. In addition to staff retention, your support of certification is an investment in your center’s performance, reputation, and residents. To learn more about these and other benefits of the course please go to http://geronurseprep.org. |
