PROVIDER INTERFACE REGISTRATION FOR LICENSED FACILITY PCS PROVIDERS

The Personal Care Services (PCS) QiRePort Provider Interface is a web-based information system to support PCS Independent Assessments. The interface helps collect, store, and communicate beneficiary information such as decision notices and independent assessments that are required to develop beneficiary plans of care. After the January 1, 2013 implementation of the new PCS program, additional Provider Interface functions will be introduced to support processes such as change of status assessment requests and facility discharge reporting.

Licensed facility provider registration for the PCS Provider Interface began on November 29, 2012. To register to use the Provider Interface, please complete the Provider Registration For Licensed Facility PCS Provider Use of QiRePort form and send to The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence (CCME) via fax at (877) 272-1942 or mail to CCME, ATTN: PCS Independent Assessment, 100 Regency Forest Drive, Suite 200, Cary, NC 27518-8598.

DMA anticipates that the Provider Interface will be available to registered users beginning on Monday, December 17, 2012. When the Provider Interface is available, registered users will receive an e-mail notification from support@QiRePort.net that includes the QiRePort Web site link and your log-in id and temporary password. To ensure that the registration e-mail is properly delivered to your account inbox, please add support@QiRePort.net to your e-mail account contacts list.

Registered licensed facility PCS providers will be able to log into QiRePort and view and download beneficiary assessments for beneficiaries assessed during the transition assessment period, including those authorized for services effective January 1, 2013, those denied transition effective January 1, 2013, and beneficiaries who appeal adverse decisions and are authorized for maintenance of service. To ensure that you are able to view and download copies of independent assessments of your facility’s residents prior to the January 1, 2013 PCS program implementation, please register immediately. Providers not registered to use the Provider Interface may request faxed copies of independent assessments beginning January 2, 2013. Please refer to the DMA Consolidated PCS Web page beginning January 2, 2013 for the independent assessment copy request form and instructions.

AHCA PRODUCT OF THE WEEK – A LIFE WORTH LIVING: PRACTICAL STRATEGIES FOR REDUCING DEPRESSION IN OLDER ADULTS

This is a unique book that presents a host of tools for combating the depression that often accompanies the life changes associated with aging. It features 11 innovative interventions built around everyday activities such as gardening, exercising, reading, and reminiscing that are designed to appeal to every older person.

These interventions are so simple they don’t feel like therapy, yet they produce such positive effects as increased self-esteem, decreased loneliness, lowered blood pressure, and heightened mental acuity.

NEED TO GO

Alzheimer’s, the disease that creeps in and slowly erases what you know until, eventually, there’s no more to erase. How this happens is still a mystery, but this short animation by Po Chou Chi tries, I think, to make poetic sense of what goes on.
