NC CareGivers Program Update

NC CareGivers logo

NC CareGivers is proud to partner with North Carolina’s skilled nursing facilities to address the critical shortage of nurse aides in our state. The overall goal of the NC CareGivers Program is to add at least 4,000 new nurse aides to work in skilled nursing facilities by the end of the three-year grant.

Enrollment Update

As of today, 248 skilled nursing facilities, 57 community colleges, and 14 proprietary schools have registered to participate in the NC CareGivers Program.

As of September 30, 2,595 Nurse Aid I students and 193 Nurse Aide I Refresher students have registered to participate in the program. Currently, 570 Nurse Aide I students have enrolled in a training program and 451 have completed their program. Nine Nurse Aide I Refresher students have enrolled and completed their program. There may be additional enrollees/completers that have not been entered into the Qualtrics system.

Currently, there are 25 participants that have reported hiring/employment information. In addition, there are 18 participants that are working at other health care agencies. If you have employed a NC CareGivers participant, please enter their NC CareGiver’s ten-digit student ID number into the Qualtrics system (see the SNF How-To Video for assistance).

Educational Webinars

Educational webinars are available to staff at participating SNFs. In July, the webinar was “Empowering Others to Act”. In October, our upcoming webinar is “Inspiring With a Shared Vision” on October 11 at 10:00 a.m. and October 18 at 2:00 p.m. In November, our webinar is “Challenging the Process” on November 8 at 10:00 a.m. and November 15 at 2:00 p.m. Register here for upcoming webinars and click here to view recordings of past webinars.

Employee Satisfaction and Engagement Survey

We had 130 SNFs sign up to participate in this year’s 3rd Annual Employee Satisfaction/Engagement Survey. The SNF administrators/survey champions distributed 14,613 paper surveys to their staff. The surveys were completed and returned to NRC. Thirty-five percent (4,6410) employees responded to the survey. NRC emailed the participating SNF administrators their individual employee survey results. NRC provided a webinar on October 3 on how to read and interpret/respond to the survey results.
