NC CareGivers Quarterly Update

NC CareGivers logo

NC CareGivers is proud to partner with North Carolina’s skilled nursing facilities to address the critical shortage of nurse aides in our state. The overall goal of the NC CareGivers Program is to add at least 4,000 new nurse aides to work in skilled nursing facilities by the end of the three-year grant (February 28, 2024).

In April, the NC CareGivers Program began year two of our three-year grant. As of today, 235 skilled nursing facilities, fifty-two community colleges and twelve proprietary schools have registered to participate in the NC CareGivers Program. Thank you for being one of our participating facilities.

As of June 30th, we have 636 nurse aid I students and thirty-four nurse aide I refresher students that have registered to participate in the program. Currently, 115 of these students are enrolled in a training program and eighty-four have completed their program. According to our records, participants have completed classes from A.I.M. Medical Training College, Arise Health Training Institute, Bladen Community College, Cape Fear Community College, College of The Albemarle, Cleveland Community College, Cumberland Nursing Academy, Guilford Technical Community College, Divine Health Academy, Gaston College, Making Visions Training Center, Pitt Community College, Randolph Community College, Sandhills Community College, Southeastern Community College, and Southwestern Community College. There may be additional enrollees/completers that have not been entered into the Qualtrics system.

If you have employed an NC CareGivers participant, please enter their NC CareGiver’s ten-digit student ID number into the Qualtrics system. Please click on the SNF How-To Video https://www.nccaregivers.org/landing01/  and it will assist you in the process. It takes approximately 5 minutes to enter the required information into the Qualtrics system. Please email reneeb@futurecarenc.org or call (252) 292-3793 if you need assistance.

Educational webinars are available for staff at participating SNFs. This month, the scheduled webinar is “Accountability Through Candid Conversations.”  The webinar is scheduled for July 13th at 10 AM and July 20th at 2 PM. It should be an excellent one for all of us to see. If you have not registered, you can at  https://go.nrchealth.com/NC-caregivers.

Over the past six weeks, SNFs have been registering to participate in the Second Annual Employee Satisfaction/Engagement Survey. Eighty-seven SNF’s are participating in the survey. On July 15th NRC Health will send employee surveys to the email addresses provided on the employee data file. Please remind staff that the survey is confidential. Completed surveys are due back to NRC Health by August 12th. Individual reports will be sent to the participating SNFs by September 16th.
