Follow Up: NC Medicaid Offering Grace Period For Eligibility For DCW Bonuses

Under the Medicaid Bulletin outlining the program’s requirements, 1/24/22 at 5:00 pm was originally the deadline for “Providers [to] identify and notify all employees of direct care worker bonus eligibility.” It’s our understanding that, due to remaining unanswered questions over some employees’ eligibility, (which were referred to as ‘technical difficulties’ in NCHCFA’s 1/24/22 email) the Department has delayed that deadline. The Department said it intends to issue more detailed information later this week.

To our knowledge, all other deadlines remain in effect, especially the one on submission: “Providers must submit the Direct Care Worker and Support Staff One-time Bonus Eligibility Form with the total of all eligible direct care workers and support staff to NC Medicaid no later than 5:00 pm on Jan. 31, 2022. Providers who do not meet this deadline will be considered ineligible for participation in the one-time bonus.”
