NCDHHS Announces CAC Re-Entry to Begin July 10

NCDHHS has announced that the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) volunteers of the long-term care ombudsman program will resume long-term care facility visitation around July 10, 2022. NCDHHS wishes to resume advocacy on behalf of the residents. The program suspended visitation in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

In readiness for resumption, DHHS developed a CAC Re-Entry document that has been reviewed by leadership at the Division of Aging and Adult Services, Legal Counsel (NC DHHS), NC Department of Public Health (DHHS/DPH), and the regional long-term care ombudsmen. DPH is the team that produced all the pandemic-related guidance and documents over the past two years.

It’s mandatory that each returning CAC volunteer undergos training using the re-entry document to ensure that volunteers will adhere to the Core Principles of Infection Prevention as outlined by CDC, CMS, and NC DHHS.
