MAHEC Seeking Input on Upcoming Workshop Opportunity
The Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) is seeking input by December 1 on interest for an upcoming workshop opportunity for skilled nursing facilities.
The workshop will focus on treatment and program development, including continuation and initiation of medications for opioid use disorder (OUD), to support sites seeking additional technical assistance around operational specifics (medical treatment, protocols, etc.).
Please reach out to Dean Smith, LTSS Unit Manager, NC DHHS, at Dean.A.Smith@dhhs.nc.gov by December 1 if you are interested in this workshop opportunity.
MAHEC previously offered a three-part series sponsored by NC DHHS that explored the essential information for treatment of OUD while working with geriatric patients and skilled nursing facility residents. The first session reviewed the legal landscape of MOUD for geriatric patients and the federal protections for patients with OUD in skilled nursing facilities. The recording is available here.
