FutureCare NC Applications for the Polly Godwin Welsh LTC Nurses Scholarship Extended to March 31
FutureCare of North Carolina is now accepting applications for the 2026 Polly Godwin Welsh Long Term Care Nurses Scholarship, an initiative created to support the next generation of long-term care nurses while honoring retired NCHCFA staff member Polly Godwin Welsh. The deadline has been extended to March 31, 2026.
Established in 2025, the scholarship program is entering its second year of investing in workforce development by helping dedicated long-term care professionals advance their nursing education. In 2026, two scholarships of up to $10,000 each will be awarded to employees of NCHCFA member facilities who are pursuing LPN or RN licensure. A printable PDF is also available to share with your employees.
Eligible applicants include CNAs enrolled in LPN or RN programs, LPNs advancing toward RN licensure, and other facility employees pursuing a nursing degree. Applicants must have at least one year of employment at a NCHCFA member facility and commit to working in a member long-term care facility for one year following graduation. Complete applications — including the online application, letters of reference, and a current official transcript — will be evaluated based on commitment to long-term care, professional goals, recommendations, and personal statements. This scholarship represents a meaningful investment in the future of long-term care nursing, and members are encouraged to share this opportunity with eligible staff.
