Spotlight on NCHCFA Fall Symposium Educational Sessions
We will be featuring educational sessions from the NCHCFA Annual Fall Symposium on September 8 – 10 at Wild Dunes Resort in Isle of Palms, SC leading up to the event.

On the second morning of the Fall Symposium, Crystal Bowens, President/Chief Consultant at CB Strategies & Solutions, will present F689 Compliance Unlocked: Aligning with Regulatory Expectations on Tuesday, September 9 at 11:00 a.m.
This session dives into the regulatory framework of F689 (Accidents and Supervision) equipping long-term care leaders with the knowledge and tools to ensure resident safety and regulatory compliance. Participants will explore the core components of F689, including accident prevention, individualized supervision, and appropriate use of assistive devices. Through real-world case studies and surveyor insights, the presentation highlights common compliance failures, identifies system gaps, and provides actionable strategies to strengthen facility protocols. Attendees will learn how to evaluate their current practices, align care plans with regulatory expectations, and use incident trends to drive QAPI initiatives.

Tuesday’s educational sessions wrap up with Mastering the LTC Emergency Planning Requirements presented by Jen Salter, Director of Operations at Century Care Management, in the afternoon.
Passionate about the long term care requirements relative to emergency preparedness, Jen will provide the tools and resources to understand the regulatory components of an annual all hazards plan, as well as complete an interactive tabletop exercise. All attendees will receive an After-Action Review following this engaging learning opportunity.
