Tony Wilson Selected as Future Leader in Long Term and Post-Acute Care by AHCA/NCAL

NCHCFA is proud to announce that Tony Wilson, Executive Director at Blumenthal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, has been selected by the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) as a future leader in long term and post-acute care. Tony will participate in AHCA/NCAL’s Future Leaders program, which provides year-long training and mentorship for professionals in long term and post-acute care.

Tony is a graduate of North Carolina Central University and has been in the long-term care industry for over 15 years. Throughout his career he has served in the roles of Social Services Director, Social Work Consultant, Admissions Coordinator, and currently as the Administrator of a 134-bed skilled nursing facility, that received the AHCA Bronze Quality Award in 2021. He is also a 2023 graduate of the NCHCFA Institute for Long Term Care Leaders. Tony believes that establishing a culture built on transparency, intentionality, and employee recognition is key to staff retention and recruitment. As a result, this facility has remained staffing agency free for two years. Being agency free has allowed the facility to provide consistent, quality care for the residents and allow facility employed staff to build trusting relationships with their families and loved ones.    

AHCA/NCAL developed the Future Leaders program in 2004. Selected participants demonstrate leadership potential and represent the interests of state and national long term care providers. The program covers the latest theories and practical applications in quality management, customer satisfaction, and leadership. The year-long program kicks off with the “Future Leaders of Long-Term Care in America” Symposium held each year in Washington, D.C.
