FutureCare NC and the Alliant Community Health Impact Grant Committee of the Alliant Health Group, Inc. are pleased to announce the creation of a scholarship program. The program will promote and support the professional development and education of students studying to become Certified Nursing Assistants and nurses working in the long-term care setting.    

The FutureCare NC and Alliant Health Group scholarship is available to current employees of member facilities in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Facilities Association (NCHCFA). The goal of the scholarship is to help address the workforce crisis facing skilled nursing facilities. The scholarships will be awarded based on career goals, educational plans and letters of recommendation.     

Below is additional information about the scholarship, award amounts, application requirements and how to apply.   

  • Scholarship Award Amount: The total funding available is $10,000. Individual awards will range from $1,000 for an applicant enrolled in a Certified Nursing Assistant I program to $3,000 for an applicant enrolled in a nursing program.    
  • Use of Scholarships: Scholarship awards may be applied toward tuition and fees directly related to a Certified Nursing Assistant I or nursing training program.    
  • Fields of Interest: Employees of skilled nursing facilities in good standing as members of the NCHCFA are eligible to apply for this scholarship to be used at any college or university’s nursing program approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing or DHHS approved CNAI training site.    
  • Basis of Award: The Scholarship Committee, comprised of members of the FutureCare NC Board of Directors, will make the final selection of students to receive a scholarship based on their application.   
  • Application Requirements: Each applicant should submit the following documents: a 400–500-word essay describing/explaining why an applicant wants to be a NA I/nurse; what would the applicant like or hope to accomplish during their career; completed application form; and three letters of recommendation (the letters should be a maximum of two printed pages).  
  • How To Apply: Use the FutureCare NC Certified Nursing Assistant or FutureCare NC Nursing Student links to access the applications. Electronic or paper copies of the application form and letters of recommendation must be submitted to Eric Kivisto, FutureCare NC, 5109 Bur Oak Circle, Raleigh, NC 27612 or erick@nchcfa.org. The application package must be postmarked or emailed on or before May 15, 2023
