NCHCFA presents MDS and QRP- Section GG and Section N with speakers  from RTI International.  RTI International is one of the world’s leading research institutes, dedicated to improving the human condition by turning knowledge into practice and recently presented a national train-the-trainer presentation concerning the MDS and QRP changes at the CMS Quality Conference in Baltimore, MD this year.  This conference was highly attended and highly recommended.

Their staff of more than 3,700 provides research and technical services to governments and businesses in more than 75 countries in the areas of health and pharmaceuticals, education and training, surveys and statistics, advanced technology, international development, economic and social policy, energy and the environment, and laboratory testing and chemical analysis. CMS awarded RTI International a five-year contract to enhance the design, implementation, and operation of Medicare Accountable Care Organizations- which includes developing quality measures.  .  

Seminar Summary

Section N – Drug Regimen Review

Section N of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) has been updated to include items for the Drug Regimen Review Conducted with Follow-up for Identified Issues quality measure and Data collection began on October 1, 2018.  Section N includes standardized patient assessment data elements and was implemented in response to the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation) IMPACT Act.

Objectives:

  • Describe the intent of the new Section N data elements
  • Discuss the steps for assessment and coding the data elements
  • Describe the Drug Regimen Review (DRR) Quality Measure (QM)
  • Accurately code the Section N DRR scenarios

Section GG – Functional Abilities and Goals

Section GG of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) has been updated and data collection began on October 1st, 2018. Section GG includes standardized patient assessment data elements and was implemented in response to the (Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation) IMPACT Act.

Objectives:

  • Describe the intent of Section GG
  • Define the assessment reference period for each data element
  • Discuss the steps for assessment
