Resident Assessment Coordinator

Increasingly, the planning, provision, evaluation and payment for resident care in nursing homes is being determined by required assessment instruments. The primary purpose of the Resident Assessment Coordinator position at a nursing home is to monitor and assess the needs of the residents. These responsibilities also directly drive the reimbursement that the nursing home receives from the government for the care it provides to its residents. This position involves:

  • Overseeing the completion of the various assessment instruments and care plans for each resident, many of which are required by state and federal law.
  • Overseeing the monitoring and documentation of the residents' status in numerous physical, behavioral, activities of daily living, and treatment areas.
  • Educating the staff about the significance of accurate documentation.
  • Contacting and consulting with physicians, restorative, hospice, and pharmacy staff as needed.
  • Work with staff to keep families of residents informed of and involved in residents' care.

The Resident Assessment Coordinator position requires certification as a Registered Nurse.
